Here's how it works:
Each Tuesday by 5:00pm, all players wanting to play that week must have registered for the week. All games are on Wednesdays, with check in on Wednesday at 9:30pm at Pier 40's Rooftop Pitch. Using a proprietary random team generating algorithm, all the players registered for the week will be placed onto a team minimizing the overlap with all other players playing that week. Upon check in, a colored pinnie will be distributed to each player, which sets the team you'll be playing on for the night. Then the games begin. Most nights there will be 4 teams of 6 players (5 a-side half court, with one substitute) playing at once for a straight 25 minutes. At the end of the first game, the teams rotate and play another 25 minutes, and rotating again for a third game that night. Total time playing is an hour and fifteen minutes split into three games. Each team plays the 3 other teams once each night. The referees report the scores to the league and instead of assigning points (3 for a win, 1 for a tie, 0 for a loss) to the teams, the points are assigned to the individual players. In addition, each player that is there, ready to play on time for the first game shall be awarded a 2 point bonus on the night. Over the course of a 10 week season, the fact that the teams are randomized each week, and each individual plays all available players on any given week, the results should quickly start to pick out the players that contribute the most to the team they're playing for, no matter which team that is. Thus creating the I in TEAM!
